Sonic the Hedgehog 2 may include Knuckles
The sequel to the Sonic the Hedgehog movie could have a happy surprise for all fans of the blue hedgehog, aka its historical rival Knuckles.

According to The Illuminerdi, the red echidna will play a very important part in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, although it is not clear if his role will be supporting or if he will be an antagonist figure.

Already in the first film the most attentive fans could see a connection, since towards the beginning of the there are views of masked figures that actually, as confirmed by director Jeff Fowler, were echidnas. In the second film Knuckles will instead be much more than an indirect cameo, and above all it will be in all respects faithful to the original videogame counterpart, including its various skills including gliding and climbing walls.

For its role the Paramount Pictures would be looking for a voice actor who has a serious voice, but at the same time knows how to convey a certain naivety. It would appear that another supporting character named Randall will be introduced in the new film, although he should only interact with human characters. Furthermore, a famous actor would be included in the cast, it is not yet certain if only as a cameo or if he will have a central role as already seen for Jim Carrey. Rumors speak of Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Rock but they could only be possible candidates, nothing is decided or official yet.

The start of production of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is expected in the period of May 2021, or in any case towards the beginning of summer. Jeff Fowler should once again be the director, while Pat Casey and Josh Miller should once again return to work on the script.

The film is expected to hit theaters on April 8, 2022, barring delays due to the pandemic of COVID-19.
