Creed 3: Michael B. Jordan is officially the director of the film
Earlier this year it was rumored that Michael B. Jordan would direct Creed 3, the next film in the Rocky spin-off series in which Jordan also plays Adonis "Donnie" Johnson Creed. Now, Tessa Thompson, who plays Bianca Taylor on the series, has confirmed that Jordan will direct the third film. The actress confirmed the news in an interview with MTV News' Josh Horowitz.

The rumors are true! @ michaelb4jordan is directing CREED III! But don't worry, @TessaThompson_x is going to take the sexiest man alive down a peg when she sees him. https://t.co/YGM87cOOf3

At this point, however, we continue to know very little about the third Creed film. In February, Zack Baylin was announced as the lead in the film and Rocky star Sylvester Stallone is likely to appear to reprise his role. Earlier this year, in fact, Stallone said he doesn't expect to make an appearance, even though he never says no to Rocky:

“Well, I believe in the Creed movie, and I don't I never say no to Rocky, because I have a couple of ideas about it. "

It is also unclear what the plot of Creed 3 will be like. Creed (2015), directed by Black Panther's Ryan Coogler, saw the story of the character of Jordan, a cancer mentor to Rocky, son of the enemy-turned-friend Apollo (originally played by Carl Weathers). In its 2018 sequel, Creed II, Steven Caple Jr. took on the role of director. The film saw Rocky lead Donnie in a fight against Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu), the son of Russian powerhouse Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) who killed his father during the events of Rocky IV.

Creed 3 will mark Jordan's directorial debut and continue the general tradition of the Rocky franchise. Jordan's direction of Creed 3 is just the latest big news for the actor as it was recently announced that he will produce the film Static Shock for Warner Bros. alongside Reginald Hudlin. In an interview with THR, Jordan said:

“I'm proud to be part of building a new universe centered around black superheroes, our community deserves it. Outlier Society is committed to bringing diverse comic content to life across all platforms and we are thrilled to partner with Reggie and Warner Bros on this first step. "
