Nintendo WorkBoy: story of a Game Boy peripheral that did not see the light
The universe of Nintendo development has always been characterized by a strong propensity for experimentation, with a vast selection of peripherals that have taken shape over the years without ever reaching the markets. the little known WorkBoy, a tool dedicated to Game Boy owners. The iconic portable console of the Kyoto house was in fact the recipient of this sort of portable keyboard, capable of converting the instrument into a kind of small personal computer with extremely essential functions. The process of conceiving the WorkBoy started in the 1990s, thanks to a collaboration between Nintendo and FabTek, a company based in the United States of America.

The registration of the trademark linked to the Nintendo WorkBoy dates back to 28 years ago, with 1992 officially accepting the patent of the peripheral. However, as often happens in the world of technological experimentation, the add-on for the portable console has never really seen the light on the videogame market. Decades later, journalist Liam Robertson has recovered the instrument and its history, of which he has proposed every detail in an interesting video. Unfortunately, the latter is only available in English: you can find it directly at the opening of this news.
