Diablo 2 Remake in the hands of Vicarious Visions? Schreier's new report
The announcement of Activision Blizzard is still making headlines, which in a surprise move has shut down Vicarious Visions, a studio it had owned since 2005, by channeling its workforce of more than 200 developers into Blizzard, where it will assist Irvine's company in his future projects.

A bold and controversial move at the same time, given that we are talking about a development team with a long history behind it and a proponent of the revival of Crash and Tony Hawk, with two collections / high-level remake, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2. However, Blizzard was stingy with details, and in addition to announcing the takeover of the software house, it only reported that it had entrusted its unspecified projects to the newcomers.

Where official information ends, the Jason Schreier. The well-known Bloomberg journalist immediately intervened to share some (sensational) background on the matter. It seems that the developers of Vicarious Visions have been working on the Diablo franchise since 2020, in particular on Diablo 2 Remake, a project that would have been inherited from Team 1 of Blizzard. It seems that the historic Team 1 - creators of games such as StarCraft II, Heroes of the Storm, Starcraft Remastered and the unhappy Warcraft III Reforged - has been dismantled. After the closure, Blizzard would have entrusted the commitment to develop Diablo 2 Remake to Team 3 (the same as Diablo 4), which is now working in synergy with Vicarious Visions, also covering the role of supervisor.
