The Mandalorian: Rosario Dawson tells how she got the part
When it was announced that Rosario Dawson would be joining the cast of The Mandalorian this season, many speculated on what role she would be assigned. Many had speculated that the actress would have given the likeness to Ahsoka Tano, a character who made her debut in the animated series The Clone Wars, which actually materialized. Dawson then decided to tell how it all came about in a recent interview with Vanity Fair.

“All this (the engagement for The Mandalorian) came for the first time from some fans online: someone sent me a tweet, fantacasting about me as Ahsoka. So, I retweeted it and said: 'Absolutely, yes, thank you #AhsokaLives.'

This apparently caught the attention of someone who worked for the Star Wars press office for years and forwarded it to Dave Filoni (the creator of the character).

That kind of thing started it all. I was like: 'Oh my God, did I just apply for a character?' "

Still on the issue, Dave Filoni himself spoke about it:

" That was the first time and I looked at Rosario and I thought: 'Huh. Yes, I think maybe Ahsoka would have been a good one. ' I was only vaguely aware of what he was doing. But I had seen interviews with her where she talked about wanting to play the character and her excitement, so that was interesting. […]

[…] When I started working with Jon Favreau, I brought out the character and he said to me: 'Well, who are you going to have her play?' I said: 'Well, Rosario Dawson is at the top of my list 'and he said to me:' I know her! ' So the whole thing immediately started to fit really well. "
