The first software update for Volkswagen ID.3 is coming
It has finally arrived, after having promised it in September when the car was released, Volkswagen is preparing to release the first software update for the first electric in the ID range, the ID.3. It had been said very clearly from the start: Volkswagen needed to release the ID.3 in September, and in order to do it on schedule, it decided to do so despite the car's software not being ready in all features. Among the missing modes, certainly the most interesting is that of the head up display that uses augmented reality technology.

As early as September 2019, Volkswagen realized that it was behind in software terms compared to what demanded by the market and offered by the competition. On more than one occasion, the group's CEO, Herbert Diess, has said that Volkswagen's biggest challenge for the near future will be to convert entirely to a digital company, and ID.3 is the perfect example.

The update prepared by Volkswagen will be released very soon thanks to the OTA (Over-the-air) system that allows you to update the software of all ID.3 with a simple download, as if it were the software of a smartphone, instead of having to go to the workshop and wait for an available appointment. Unfortunately we do not have the details on which functions will be activated thanks to this new software version, but the fact that Volkswagen has decided to use an OTA system is still excellent news since initially the release of the first software update was planned in the spring of 2021 with a mandatory intervention to be done in an authorized workshop; evidently all the efforts made by Volkswagen to transform itself into a digital company are paying off.

We remind you that Volkswagen ID.3 has a starting price of € 38,900, and state incentives are still available to date that allow you to save about € 10,000 on the purchase price.
