Nintendo Switch, eShop Down at Christmas: too many consoles under the tree?
With PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X continuing to be nowhere to be found, and PS4 and Xbox One on the avenue of sunset, it seems that the Nintendo Switch benefited from it, which this year could have ended up under many, indeed many Christmas trees.

This is what can be deduced after learning about the collapse of the Nintendo Network last night, which mostly affected the North American market. Many players, after discarding their new Switch (or Switch Lite), could not log in and / or download their games from the eShop. When we were a quarter to one (and overseas were in the middle of the Christmas festivities) Nintendo of America released the following statement: "We know that many players are experiencing errors in accessing Nintendo eShop, and we are working to fix the problem as soon as possible. Thanks for understanding, please keep checking the status page for the latest updates ".

At the moment the status page does not report any errors, so it is possible that the problem has recovered but we cannot help but wonder about the causes that caused it. For Mat Piscatella, well-known analyst of NPD, a group that monitors and analyzes sales in North America, there is no doubt: this year so many Nintendo Switches have been sold, that the simultaneous access of many new players would have undermined the Nintendo network. "Many and many and many and many and many Switches were under the Christmas tree this year", commented Piscatella.

Although there is no sales data to support this hypothesis (it's too early) , we believe it is very plausible. We await the usual monthly report from NPD which will arrive in mid-January to find out what Switch has been capable of this year. Speaking of the Nintendo store, we remind you that the indie sales on the eShop are active, Hades is also on sale!
