New extension to the cut of excise duties

New extension to the cut of excise duties

During the last council of ministers, Daniele Franco, minister of the economy, signed the decree law, approved by the council, which decreed a further extension to the cut in excise duties on fuels. Before passing the reins to the new executive, the current government has therefore postponed the expiry of the provision to November 18 (before the deadline was October 31).

The Italian government is not the only one that has decided to directly intervene in a concrete way to contain the prices of petrol and diesel. But with the imminent change of executive, the next possible decisions on the matter will be up to the new government. To date, the cut in excise duties is 25 cents per liter plus VAT, for both petrol and diesel. As far as LPG is concerned, the discount amounts to 8.5 cents per liter plus EIA, while VAT reduced to 5% is applied to methane, as in previous months.
