PS5: This is how you use the hidden internet browser

PS5

Officially, the PS5 does not offer an Internet browser - but hidden in the settings you can still find a way that players can surf the web via their console. Here users only have to select the user manual, which automatically opens a new window that shows the instructions for the PS5. However, the functions of the browser are severely restricted. Not even your own URLs can be entered. But there is still a trick.

If you go to the "Users and Accounts" menu item in the settings, you can link your Twitter account. You can then call up your Twitter timeline, which you can then use to get to other websites. It is still unclear whether Sony will ever integrate a real Internet browser for the PS5. However, it seems a bit questionable whether a corresponding function is absolutely necessary in the age of smartphones, tablets and smart TVs. What about with you? Do you have or would you use a browser on a game console?

A few days ago Sony released the latest firmware version of the PS5 for beta testers. The highlights include support for M.2 SSDs, which can be used to expand the console's system memory. In addition, 3D audio can also be used via the TV loudspeaker in the future. You can read more details about the update in our message at the time. Over 10 million PS5 consoles have now been sold. Sony wants to increase this number to 22.6 million units (buy now) by the end of March 2022.

Here is a breakdown of the latest information.

Best Buy PS5 Restock

As we reported in our previous update, reputable console tracker Matt Swider is forecasting that a PS5 restock at Best Buy is imminent.

The only problem with that is that Best Buy's restock patterns have become increasingly unpredictable lately, meaning that you will need to remain constantly vigilant. Indeed, Swider's sources (who are responsible for managing the retailer's inventory levels) have hinted that the 'add to cart' button could go live any day now.

Newsweek will continue to monitor the situation and will publish more details as and when they are confirmed.

A handful of Target stores were selling PS5s on Tuesday, August 10, but this did not constitute a nationwide restock.

Units were only available in certain locations and your ability to place an order was entirely dependent on your ZIP code. If a nearby store had the console in stock, then you would be able to make a purchase. Otherwise, the 'add to cart' button would display as greyed out.

Even if you were in one of the lucky areas, supplies were very limited across the board, so your chances of getting a PS5 were still quite slim.

In terms of when the next proper Target restock will occur, there is no word yet on a date. However, the merchant always releases its new units between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. ET, so we can at least narrow it down to the early morning.

After replenishing its inventory last week, Walmart has yet to stock up on additional PS5 units.

Generally speaking, the outlet coordinates its drops on a fortnightly basis, and (with a few exceptions) they almost always occur on Thursdays at 3 p.m. ET. As such, we can infer that the next restock is likely to take place on the afternoon of August 19.

That being said, it might be worth keeping an eye on Walmart's social media channels on August 12, just in case there is a surprise announcement.

You are currently unable to purchase a PlayStation 5 from GameStop.

While you wait for the merchant to get its next batch of supplies, you might want to consider signing up for their 'PowerUp Rewards Pro' membership. GameStop's last few sales have been reserved exclusively for these premium customers (leaving regular shoppers unable to place an order), so joining the loyalty scheme could be advantageous.

To guarantee that you will be eligible for the next GameStop restock, you can register for a PowerUp Pro membership on their website. The annual cost is $14.99.

Sony's restocks are usually telegraphed a little in advance, as their official storefront will send out email notifications when it is about to release new PlayStation units.

Whenever PS Direct is planning to open its virtual line, it invites randomly selected PSN users to join early. These emails will give a date and time for the next restock and so word tends to get out.

There have been no reports of any such emails being delivered over the past week, indicating that the next drop is still a way off.

Check PS5 restock at PS Direct.Antonline PS5 Restock

The PS5 remains out of stock at Antonline, but there are a few Xbox Series S bundles available.

The PS5 is not available in any Newegg shuffles right now. To be alerted when the next lottery draw will open, follow dedicated console trackers like @mattswider and @GYXdeals on Twitter.

Check PS5 restock at Newegg.Amazon PS5 Restock

At the time of writing, you are unable to add a PS5 to your Amazon basket. The online marketplace has not restocked since Prime Day nearly two months ago, and there is no indication of when this will change.

Check PS5 restock at Amazon.Costco PS5 Restock

Costco very rarely has the PS5 in stock nowadays, but if the retailer is ever selling the console then @mattswider and @GYXdeals will be the first to let you know.
