The Stellantis group, born from the merger of FCA and PSA, and the giant Foxconn have recently announced the launch of a partnership that will be dedicated entirely to the development of digital technologies for cars, called Mobile Drive.It will be Foxconn itself to make its expertise in the electronics sector available to the joint venture, while Stellantis will leverage its experience in the mobility and vehicle sectors. Not surprisingly, at the heart of Mobile Drive there will be both the development of infotainment and telematics solutions, designed for an intelligent interior. The software package will also include applications based on artificial intelligence, navigation, voice assistance, e-commerce store operations and integration of payment services.
The vehicles of the future will be increasingly guided and characterized by software . Today's and tomorrow's customers are demanding and expecting ever more creative and software-based solutions - solutions that connect drivers and passengers to the vehicle, inside and out. Mobile Drive intends to meet and exceed these expectations by involving teams of designers and software and hardware engineers, said Young Liu, president of Foxconn.
We therefore reiterate that Mobile Drive will focus on infotainment, cloud platform development, 5G communication and over-the-air services, focusing on the provision of digital cockpits destined to revolutionize the sector and encourage the development of connected vehicles.
We are talking about a natural extension of Foxconn's global leadership in developing and deploying smart technologies to improve the quality of life of consumers around the world, added Young Liu.
According to what was released by the two companies, the different solutions developed by Mobile Drive will be owned by both Stellantis and Foxconn. However, the joint venture could become a supplier to the entire automotive sector.
In the future, the intelligent interior solution will not only be available for all Stellantis vehicles, but also for third-party vehicle manufacturers, expanding the scope and impact of the Mobile Drive joint venture, which aims to be a global leader in intelligent cockpit and connected vehicle solutions.
