A couple of months ago, the USB Promoter Group presented the 2.0 version of the USB standard, which will double the available bandwidth, going from the current 40GB / s to the future 80Gb / s, even surpassing Thunderbolt 4 .

Among the novelties of this new iteration of the popular standard, we find an increase in bandwidth beyond 20Gb / s for USB 3.2 data tunneling when using alt modes such as DisplayPort. In addition, all updates related to the latest versions of the Display Port standard and PCIe specification have been included. As always, of course, full compatibility is also maintained with previous USB standards, such as USB4 Version 1.0, USB 3.2, USB 2.0 and Thunderbolt 3.

Through an official press release, Brad Saunders, CEO of USB-IF ( USB Implementer's Forum), said:

This updated technical specification extends USB4 speed and data protocol performance, enabling manufacturers to develop products capable of delivering USB end users 80 Gb / s beyond to current USB 40 Gb / s and USB 20 Gb / s.| ); }
