The official site of Yashahime, the anime spinoff of Inuyasha (you can find many themed gadgets and the numbers of the original manga by Rumiko Takahashi Inuyash in this rich page on Amazon) has revealed many interesting news on Yashahime 2, the new season coming : a character we had never seen before, the artist who formed the final theme, a visual and even a launch trailer. Also, the Viz Media Twitter account for the anime has unveiled a new trailer!

Yashahime 2: all the latest news

Let's start with the closing theme song, composed and performed by female pop group Little Glee Monster, while male idol band NEWS will return to perform the anime's opening theme; had performed the second opening song of the previous season.

Teruo Sato, director of Inuyasha, directed the anime for the same studio, Sunrise, and Katsuyuki Sumisawa wrote the scripts for the series, after doing the same for Inuyasha and Mobile Suit Gundam Wing. Takahashi herself has been credited as the main character designer, Yoshihito Hishinuma (Yakitate !! Japan, City Hunter: Private Eyes) has returned to Inuyasha to adapt the author's designs for animation. Kaoru Wada (3 × 3 Eyes, Battle Angel) is also back, after his work for Inuyasha, to compose the music.

Takahashi launched the original Inuyasha manga in Weekly Shonen Sunday in 1996 and concluded it in 2008. The 167-episode anime series Inuyasha based on the manga ran from 2000 to 2004. An anime sequel to 26 episodes titled Inuyasha: The Final Act aired from 2009 to 2010. The series inspired four films and a 30-minute anime short.

Yashahime 2 will premiere in Japan on Yomiuri TV and NTV on October 2nd, while it will be distributed in streaming on Crunchyroll, where you can also find the first season of the series.

Yashahime season 2 is on the way to continue the tale that started in Rumiko Takahashi’s InuYasha, and we have more info ahead of the season’s October 2 premiere. In addition to that date, a new trailer has arrived along with an additional cast member and the theme song artist announcement.

The latest addition to the cast is Saki Fujita (Ymir in Attack on Titan), who will voice Kirinmaru’s daughter Rion. Check out the character art for a peek ahead of the premiere below.

The opening theme was previously revealed to be by NEWS, and now we know who is on the ending theme. While there isn’t a title for the song just yet, J-pop group Little Glee Monster—who handled the first ending theme song for My Hero Academia season two, “Dakara, Hitori Janai”—is doing the honors.

Yashahime season 2 is coming to YTV and NTV in Japan on October 2 at 5:30pm Japan Time. Here’s how Crunchyroll describes the first season:

Set in feudal Japan, half-demon twins Towa and Setsuna are separated from each other during a forest fire. While desperately searching for her younger sister, Towa wanders into a mysterious tunnel that sends her into present-day Japan, where she is found and raised by Kagome Higurashi’s brother, Sota, and his family. Ten years later, the tunnel that connects the two eras has reopened, allowing Towa to be reunited with Setsuna, who is now a demon slayer working for Kohaku. But to Towa’s shock, Setsuna appears to have lost all memories of her older sister.
