The Last of Us Part 2: the upcoming multiplayer could be battle royale

The Last of Us Part 2

A YouTuber specialized in modding and datamine named Speclizer would have found assets of The Last of Us Part 2 that would belong to the long-awaited multiplayer sector on the way. According to Speclizer, the clues point to a battle royale mode.

As visible from the video attached to this article, Speclizer shows an unused map that he believes should be implemented in future multiplayer modes. Among the other assets scanned by the user there is a listening device, a collar, a portable TV, but above all backpacks and armor that would refer to the multiplayer of The Last of Us Part 2. The YouTuber claims that Adler Park, Camallito and the Port of Camallito would have been compressed to form a single large map capable of hosting a large number of players.

In a comment to the video below, Speclizer was very keen to point out some details that would put more flesh on fire for The Last of Us Part 2 battle royale mode theory: “It's not mentioned in the video, but in the development footage there is a compass and player count that are usually only used in battle royale. Oh and there's also an emote wheel script. ”

We knew since 2019 that The Last of Us Part 2 would hit our screens without a multiplayer sector, but Naughty Dog has always said that sooner or later“ something ”would come to fill this void. In particular, the developers were talking about an evolution of the Factions mode of the first The Last of Us, a vision that the team has grown and expanded over time and that in the future they said they wanted to combine the single player game. Who knows if Speclizer has seen us right with the analysis of him, and who knows how long we should wait to officially know the multiplayer mode of The Last of Us Part 2.
