Doctor Strange 2 will be in perfect "Raimi style"

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the second film dedicated entirely to the adventures of the Sorcerer Supreme played by Benedict Cumberbatch, one of the many Marvel productions that have unfortunately suffered from the many postponements last year caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. More importantly, the film will see Sam Raimi return to collaborate with Marvel after the famous trilogy of films dedicated to the Spider-Man by Tobey Maguire, made in the early 2000s and therefore well before the arrival of the so-called Marvel Cinematic Universe. >

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has now talked about Raimi's return during an interview with Rotten Tomatoes (news here), explaining how the new Doctor Strange film will in fact be an extremely different product than to the MCU cinecomic classics we've seen so far. Feige explained that it is really interesting to be able to be in a position to invite Raimi to return to visit the Marvel universe to work on Doctor Strange, which apart from Spider-Man is his second favorite character. For the American producer it is simply exciting to have the opportunity to see the director back at work on a product from the House of Ideas, ready to leave the "brand" typical of his films both on the character of Doctor Strange and on the Multiverse as a whole .

The plot of the new film should distance itself from that of its predecessor (which you can find here in a special offer), being set immediately after the events of Avengers: Endgame, with Dr. Stephen Strange busy continuing his research on parallel and multiverse dimensions. From what has been made known, both Scarlet Witch (played by Elizabeth Olsen) and Loki himself are expected to make an appearance in the film. Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams and Chiwetel Ejiofor will reprise their roles respectively as Wong, Christine Palmer and Mordo.

The screenplay for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been entrusted to Michael Waldron, who also wrote the TV series dedicated to Loki available on Disney +, together with Jade Halley Bartlett. The release date of the film in American cinemas is set for March 25, 2022.
