Tesla installs the first V4 Superchargers in Europe

During Tesla's Investor Day 2023 which took place a few days ago, the company announced that it had started installation operations for the new generation of Supercharger charging stations in Europe; at the moment there isn't much technical information on the capacity of the columns but we know that the column will be taller, with the charging cable longer and coming out of the top of the device.

It may seem like little information account, but in reality it is not: as you may know, Tesla recently decided to open the Supercharger charging network also to electric cars from other manufacturers (to date it is estimated that around 50% of Tesla columns in Europe are available at everyone) but soon realized a practical problem related to the length of its charging cables. The position of the charging socket of an electric car can vary, unlike the Teslas which all have the socket in the same point of the car, and this leads to unpleasant situations in which it is difficult to park in front of the column in order to allow the charging cable to reach the outlet.

In the worst cases, a slightly rude motorist could decide to occupy 2 parking spaces to orient his car in the only useful way to get to the charging socket, a behavior that Tesla is quickly trying to eliminate by changing its columns.

The diffusion of the Tesla Supercharger charging network is one of the keys to the success of Elon Musk's house, which has been able to build more than 40,000 fast charging columns in about 4,700 stations around the world: when finally the whole Supercharger network will be open to all electric cars it will become one of the largest fast charging networks available to the public, and in this the new Supercharger V4 column with longer charging cables plays a fundamental role.
