Brave Search launches new AI feature to overcome ChatGPT

Brave Search has launched a new feature called “Summarizer“, based on artificial intelligence, to challenge the giants like Google and Bing in the search engine industry. The Summarizer function offers a brief summary of the information a user is looking for using different sources, unlike other competitors such as Microsoft Bing, which uses OpenAI's ChatGPT technology.

Brave's AI-generated summary function Search is impressive and returns a short summary of the information sought, displayed above the web results, also indicating the sources of the text. Additionally, the search engine also offers the ability to highlight relevant phrases in the listed results for news articles, instead of just keywords.

Here is an example of the response generated by Brave Search AI, when Apple's Mixed Reality Headset Rumors Asked:

Rumors of Apple's mixed reality headset have been circulating since January 2022, when analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Display Supply Chain analysts talked about it . According to a DSCC document, the headset will feature an innovative triple-display configuration with two 4K micro OLEDs and another AMOLED panel for low-resolution peripheral vision.

Photo Credit: 9to5Mac Josep M. Pujol, head of Brave Search, stressed that the Summarizer feature is transparent about its sources and doesn't provide "made-up answers" like other AI chat tools. Recall that Brave Search is becoming increasingly popular, with 22 million queries per day. Also, you don't need to install Brave's web browser to use it, just access search.brave.com from any web browser.

Undoubtedly, the “Summarizer” feature is a strategic move by Brave Search to outperform competitors with a large langue models (LLM ) approach, as noted by TechCrunch . Thanks to it, the search engine can offer a high-quality and transparent service, which can make the difference for users looking for information online.
