The Last of Us, Naughty Dog will not announce upcoming games in advance

The Last of Us

Neil Druckmann, author and co-president of the American study, during a recent interview, explained the reasons that led Naughty Dog not to officially announce the next chapters of The Last of Us or Uncharted. In particular, the non-announcement of the titles is linked to the desire to avoid problems that have already occurred in the past with TLOU 2 and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. Although we already know of the existence of new games related to these universes, in fact, the studio does not seem to want to disclose the details in advance.

In a recent statement, Druckmann has, in fact, stated that he does not want to repeat mistakes made in the past that have put the team in difficulty. The Last of Us Part 2 (which you can buy on Amazon) and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, in fact, were announced well in advance, a strategy which, however, proved to be a double-edged sword. If, in fact, revealing details about a game helps to create more hype behind its development, on the other hand, this practice puts more pressure and tighter deadlines on the team.

Neil Druckmann, in fact, added that announcing The Last of Us 2 and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End so early has created imbalances between work and private life of his team. By postponing these announcements, however, Naughty Dog could have managed the roadmap differently. From this experience, however, a greater awareness has arisen on the part of the team which, despite having several titles currently in development, does not seem to want to reveal them at the moment.

In fact, Naughty Dog seems to want to avoid any periods of crunch which, when working with successful franchises such as The Last of Us, can become quite stressful and difficult to manage. It is therefore possible that the new games will be presented close to the launch period and with little notice, until then, the saga will continue with the TV series developed by HBO.
