Dark Souls and that iconic element

Very often, in video games, there are elements of contact that are also found in different genres. We are not talking about gameplay elements, but more about aesthetic aspects. And it is precisely the aesthetics that connect Dark Souls to other great games, such as Metal Gear Solid and Grand Theft Auto.

A user of the ResetEra forum thought of starting this sort of connection, who talked about how the You Died screen, featured in FromSoftware's games, has become a real popular phenomenon. However, it is not the only game to have made the Game Over screens a real touch of art. The screenshots of FromSoftware games are in fact like other more classic ones, such as those of GTA and Metal Gear Solid.

In the case of Rockstar Games, the Wasted screen, which is displayed after each player's death, has had the merit of creating a real cult, complete with a dedicated subreddit. As far as Metal Gear Solid is concerned, the Game Over screen continues to be a real characteristic element of the series and of the first chapter, which debuted on PlayStation 1 .

Then there are other examples of classic screens that have remained in the heart of video games, such as those of the first Zelda. And the examples continue. But what is certainly important is how FromSoftware has managed to create such a distinctive element of its games that it is immediately recognizable. And of elements like that, which become iconic in a short time, the world of video games is obviously full of them, but it is something that should not be taken for granted.
