The Sims has found its rival

Over the past few days, Paradox held an event (in partnership with Xbox). The new Cities Skylines took the stage, but during the live broadcast the publisher and developer also presented what we can define as the rival of The Sims. It is certainly still too early to talk about it precisely, but the title seems to have the right conditions to challenge the giant of Maxis and Electronic Arts.

Called Life by You, the game recalls The Sims in all respects. And it is no coincidence, of course: at the helm of the project, developed by Paradox Tectonic, we find Rod Humble. Humble is not just any developer: he was the CEO of Linden Lab, the creators of Second Life, the very first metaverse launched online. In addition Humble also served as Executive Vice President and Head of the popular sim game at Electronic Arts. In short, there is a respectable curriculum, which shows the goodness of Paradox in wanting to complete a project that is truly able to rival one of the best-selling games in the world.

Although the premises are excellent, there is also to underline how Paradox is about to enter a dangerous sector. The popularity of The Sims is decidedly high and shows no sign of stopping: the fourth chapter continues to receive updates and content years after its release and the fifth chapter, known by the code name of Project Renee seems to have what it takes to to be able to refresh the genre.

Life by You therefore remains a bet and we will know more shortly. The game will be presented on March 20: there are just over ten days left to discover the true nature of the title and know if it really has what it takes to rival the Electronic Arts brand.
