Nicolas Cage and his relationship with the MCU

According to reports, the actor Nicolas Cage, when asked by Variety if he wanted to be part of the MCU, he responded by saying:

I don't need to be in the MCU, I'm Nic Cage.

and its relationship with the MCU

The actor then went on to specify that he has nothing against the franchise, although many insiders have concerns believing that this kind of film could somehow way to kill (commercially speaking) projects with less strong IPs. In fact, according to the actor, there is room for everyone on the market:

I understand what the frustration is. I see… I watch movies like Tár. I see all kinds of arty and independent films. I think there is plenty of room for everyone.

Nicolas Cage's priorities

However, it is not the first time that we have heard declarations of disinterest from the actor towards big franchises. Nicolas Cage had previously turned down leading roles in productions such as The Matrix and The Lord of the Rings. One of the reasons seems to be due to the time required to make the shots. In fact, the actor revealed that he did not want to shoot the Lord of the Rings trilogy in New Zealand for three years, an extremely long and demanding job that would have forced him to stay too long away from home and from his greatest affections.

Here are his words:

First of all… there is no Nic Cage version that he doesn't want to spend time with his children.

We also remind you that on Amazon you can find the Blu-ray of Mr.C, where the award-winning actor has to take on the role of a lifetime: Nic Cage.
