Volkswagen ID.6 is shown in the first photos leaked online
The first images of the new Volkswagen ID.6 have leaked online, the next electric vehicle that Volkswagen will release on the basis of the MEB platform, developed specifically for the electric ID range.

The new ID.6 should build on the concept previously known as ID. ROOMZZ, a large SUV - larger than the ID.4 that has already entered production - capable of accommodating an equally generous battery pack. According to Volkswagen, it should start with an 82 kWh battery pack, capable of ensuring at least 450 km of autonomy in the WLTP cycle. Thanks to the support for charging at 150 kW, it is possible to bring the battery to 80% charge in just half an hour.

The batteries then take care of powering two electric motors, positioned on their respective axles, to a total power of 306 horsepower or 225 KLW, with 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. As anticipated at the beginning, the first photos of the ID.6 were leaked online today, after Volkswagen provided the Chinese government with official documents containing photos of the car, which were then reported on reddit.

The similarities with the ID . ROOMZZ are evident, even if several aspects have been modified and softened compared to the concept; moreover, you can immediately see how the ID.6 is clearly larger than the ID.4.

From the photos it is not really possible to understand how the space inside the passenger compartment was exploited, but it is possible that Volkswagen has decided to install a third row of seats in the ID.6; at the moment the market for electric vehicles with more than 5 seats is very limited, with the presence of only the Tesla Model X and Y, while within a few months Rivian should bring on the market its electric SUV R1S capable of offering 7 seats.

To compete better in this market, Volkswagen will have to present the ID.6 in a comprehensive and in-depth manner very soon - as well as reveal its price, to understand where it stands relative to the competition.
