The Kyoto giant has recently broadcast a new Nintendo Direct, during which no information on the hardware front was shared. Despite this, rumors about an alleged Nintendo Switch PRO continue to bounce on the net.

In particular, the Resetera forum is hosting an increasingly heated discussion linked to some rumors. Active as "z0m3le" and recognized by the Resetera moderators as a "verified insider", one of the portal users reported multiple unofficial details on Nintendo's future plans. Below, we report the main points:

Nintendo Switch PRO would be destined to be much more powerful than the basic model of Nintendo Switch, with an output set by Kyoto for the next fiscal year, or between 1 April 2021 and March 31, 2022. According to the insider, the DevKit of the console would have started in these days to reach the studies of the Third Party teams; The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 would be closely connected to the launch of Nintendo Switch PRO; Mario Kart 9 would have been in development for some time at the Nintendo teams and would be destined to land on the videogame market on the occasion of the 2021 Christmas holidays; Nothing reported - we remember - constitutes official information: Nintendo has in fact never pronounced itself on these details nor has it ever announced the actual existence of a new Mario Kart or an unpublished enhanced model of Nintendo Switch. As for the Hyrule universe, news on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 should arrive this year.

Nintendo Switch Pro, Zelda, Smash Bros, Mario Kart and More Trend on Twitter After immediate announcement

Ultimate – and games to be released in the first half of this year. Despite this disclaimer, Nintendo fans are going wild with speculation about the rumored Nintendo Switch Pro, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, Bayonetta 3, Metroid Prime 4, Mario Kart 9 and more.

At this point, it’s unclear how strictly Nintendo Direct will follow the aforementioned parameters it set out when it made the announcement. If it fully follows these parameters, just about everything above will not be present.

What we can probably safely anticipate is the reveal of a new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC character, which could eventually become Crash Bandicoot. Also a potentially safe bet is a collection along the lines of Super Mario 3D All-Stars for Zelda, not only because of the new rumors, but also because the series’ 35th anniversary takes place this month.

For now, like Nintendo fans, we can speculate, and sadly, that’s all we have until 5pm EST …
