Nintendo Switch: Almost 80 million copies sold worldwide
Nintendo recently released the figures for the past fiscal quarter, which ran through December 31, 2020. The information once again makes it clear that the Switch console continues to float on a great wave of success. In the last three months of last year alone, it sold 11.57 million copies.

That means not only growth of seven percent compared to the same period last year, but also a new record. In no previous quarter has Nintendo been able to sell (buy now) more units of the Switch. It now has a total sales of 79.87 million copies and is thus aiming for the 80 million mark. If it maintains this pace, it should be able to overtake the Game Boy Advance as early as the spring of this year, which currently has 81.85 million units sold worldwide. After that, only the Wii, the original Game Boy and the Nintendo DS stand in front of the Switch.

Fittingly: The Switch was the Destiny console for Nintendo

There are also some interesting details with the software numbers: At the top is the racer Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with 33.14 million copies sold. This is followed by the life simulation Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which was only published last year and has 31.18 million units sold. In third place is the Brawler Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with 22.85 million copies - followed by the action adventure The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with 21.45 million.
