Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku - manga and anime
Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku is written and drawn by Fujita. Initially uploaded online by the author on the Pixiv website from April 17, 2014, the manga was then transferred to Ichijinsha's webzine Comic Pool from November 6, 2015. The manga participated in the 41st Kodansha Award for manga and in September 2017 it won the general elections on manga webs.According to publisher Ichijinsha, the manga has recently reached 12 million copies in circulation, both print and digital, since the release of volume 10.
Wotakoi - Love is Hard for Otaku debuted in Italy thanks to Planet Manga which published it from February 13, 2020:
Narumi, an employee who hides that she is a fan of the yaoi genre, changes work and reunites with his charming childhood friend Hirotaka, who is a videogame otaku. They decide to go out together, but being both otaku, they have strange habits, and the relationship is anything but easy…
The manga inspired an anime adaptation called Wotakoi - Love is complicated for otaku, produced by A-1 Pictures, which aired in Fuji TV's noitaminA container between April 13 and June 22 for a total of 11 episodes. The anime was directed by Yoshimasa Hiraike while the soundtrack was composed by Akimitsu Honma.
The first OAD was released on March 29, 2019 as an attachment to the limited edition of volume 7 of the manga and a live-action film premiered in Japan on February 7, 2020.
The work arrived for the first time in Italy on Amazon Prime Video, which broadcast the anime series in streaming for its subscribers at the same time as the Japanese broadcast.
