Due to the rather high power consumption of Ampere architecture-based GPUs, NVIDIA has had to employ 2.5-slot wide cooling systems on its Founders Edition graphics cards. The company's partners have followed suit, so most of the GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 cards (two of the best video cards on the market) are equipped with huge heatsinks that take up 2.5 PCIe slots, limiting their compatibility. with some PCs. Inno3D has decided to change the cards by presenting a new model of GeForce RTX 3080 Ti that is slimmer and that occupies only two slots in height.

The specifications of Inno3D's GeForce RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC are fairly standard . The card is based on NVIDIA's GA102 GPU with 10,240 CUDA cores that can run up to 1,680MHz in boost mode, as well as 12GB of GDDR6X memory with a data transfer rate of 19GT / s for a total of 912GB / s of width. band. The device uses a custom printed circuit board with a 17-phase voltage regulation module and features two auxiliary eight-pin PCIe power connectors.

The board is 112mm wide and 300mm long, but unlike the others products based on the GeForce RTX 3080, the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC is only 35mm tall and occupies two PCIe slots. Inno3D claims this will greatly improve compatibility with Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX PC cases.

Although the cooling system used by Inno3D's GeForce RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC is thinner than competing designs, however, we expect it to be more than enough, as it's comprised of three large interconnected heat sinks using seven heatpipes, three 90mm fans, and a rear backplate. Heatsinks cool the GPU, memory, and VRM - the three hottest components of any graphics card.

Inno3D has already placed its GeForce RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC on its website, so it should debut on the market shortly. Unfortunately, no official price has been specified at the moment.

Inno3D really impressed me with their custom GeForce RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC, a dual-slot custom GeForce RTX 3080 Ti that offered virtually the same performance as the triple-slot beasts.

The company is back again with the Inno3D GeForce RTX 3070 Ti X3 OC dual-slot graphics card, offering everything the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti offers -- RTX + DLSS and everything in between -- all in the dual-slot design that Inno3D continues to impress with.


In a world where the more 'mid-range' GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is a 2.5-slot or even a huge 3-slot GPU, Inno3D decides to move away from the crowd and squeeze into its own niche with dual-slot Ampere cards. Inno3D uses the same triple-fan cooler on the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti X3 OC dual-slot card as it did with the higher-end RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC dual-slot.


The triple-fan cooler consists of 3 x 90mm fans with high-quality bearings, while the scythe fan blades boost airflow and have been optimized by Inno3D to work in low fan speed conditions. Inside there are 7 heat pipes, with two of them looking after the 8GB of super-fast GDDR6X memory.


Inno3D's custom GeForce RTX 3070 Ti X3 OC dual-slot might be a thinner card, but NVIDIA's own GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition is just impossibly small -- it makes it feel underwhelmingly powerful, but the RTX 3070 Ti easily delivers 1440p high FPS and 4K 60FPS gaming without a problem.

For the entire time testing the Inno3D GeForce RTX 3070 Ti X3 OC Dual Slot graphics card, I was using the new ASUS ROG Strix XG43UQ monitor... a huge 43-inch 4K 144Hz monitor with HDMI 2.1 connectivity. Everything You Need to Know About Ampere

  • RTX 3070 Ti Tech Specs

    NVIDIA has made some rather big improvements with Ampere over the previous-gen Turing GPU architecture, with the new GeForce RTX 3070 Ti rocking 6144 CUDA cores against the 2560 CUDA cores found inside of the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER.


    We have the new GeForce RTX 3070 Ti packing 48 SMs, 192 Tensor Cores (3rd Gen) and 48 RT Cores (2nd Gen) against the 40 SMs, 320 Tensor Cores (2nd Gen), and 40 RT Cores (1st Gen) inside of the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER.


    GPU boost clocks are close to the same between the two GPUs, with the new GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition with a base GPU clock of 1575MHz and boost GPU clock of 1770MHz -- the base clock on the RTX 2070 SUPER is slightly higher.


    But the major improvement here with the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is the use of GDDR6X memory, with NVIDIA using the same 8GB framebuffer... the new GDDR6X clocked at 19Gbps (up from 14Gbps on GDDR6) on the same 256-bit memory bus results in 608GB/sec of memory bandwidth (up from 448GB/sec on the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER).

    Detailed Look

    Inno3D's retail packaging is on point from the front, lacking on the back -- like the higher-end RTX 3080 Ti.


    From the front, we have the triple-fan cooler that is identical to the higher-end RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC dual-slot graphics card. Inno3D's new GeForce RTX 3070 Ti X3 OC dual-slot graphics card looks absolutely identical to the RTX 3080 Ti version of the card from the outside, you wouldn't tell the difference... you can tell your friends you've got the RTX 3080 Ti version if you want, I won't tell, I promise.


    The same goes for the top of the card, where we have no RGB lighting and just dual 8-pin PCIe power connectors. It's that thin dual-slot card you're here to see, once again identical to the RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC dual-slot graphics card.


    For display connectivity, we have the same 3 x DisplayPort 1.4 connectors and a single HDMI 2.1 connector, this will provide you with 4K 120/144Hz and 8K 60Hz.


    The dual 8-pin PCIe power connectors are great to see, as the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition graphics card has its single 12-pin connector out to dual 8-pin connectors... while other custom RTX 3070 Ti cards require triple 8-pin PCIe power connectors which IMO is out of control for an RTX 3070 Ti.

    Test System Specs

    Latest upgrade:


    ASUS provided a rather large upgrade to my GPU testing lab -- or rather, I kept the ASUS ROG Swift PG43UQ gaming monitor after my review on it. The 43-inch 4K 144Hz panel is just glorious to look at -- it's huge, the DPI for Windows 10 when set perfect for your viewing distance is kiss-fingers-emoji good. It's just amazing -- for work, and gaming.


    Sabrent sent over their huge Rocket Q 8TB NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD, which will be my new Games install SSD inside of my main test bed.


    I'll be making some changes over the coming months to the GPU test bed here for TweakTown, to both the Ryzen 9 5900X and then Intel's new Core i9-11900K to do some proper PCIe 4.0 testing between the chipsets for GPUs + super-fast load times into games on these new super-fast Sabrent SSDs.


    Sabrent helped out with some new storage for my GPU test beds, sending over a slew of crazy-fast Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSDs. I've got this installed into my GPU test bed as the new Games Storage drive, since games are so damn big now. Thanks to Sabrent, I've got 2TB of super-fast M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD storage now.

You can search results for your GPU, to see if it falls in line with other systems based on similar hardware.

    3DMark TimeSpyHeaven - 1080p

    Heaven is an intensive GPU benchmark that really pushes your silicon to its limits. It's another favorite of ours as it has some great scaling for multi-GPU testing, and it's great for getting your GPU to 100% for power and noise testing.

    1080p Benchmark Performance Thoughts

    1080p gaming is definitely something NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 3070 Ti dominates in, with 60FPS+ easily on AAA games with maxed out graphics for the most part. You should also be able to crank ray tracing in games like Cyberpunk 2077 and nail 60FPS average thanks to DLSS technology.


    If you're playing esports games then you'll want 120-144FPS which is something the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti can easily do. Games like Overwatch, League of Legends, CS:GO, Rainbow Six: Siege and many others will enjoy those huge triple-digit frame rates.

    4K Benchmark Performance Thoughts

    For the 4K gamers I would recommend getting the new flagship GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics card, first off it's much faster -- and it has 12GB of GDDR6X memory which makes it better equipped for 4K and 4K 120FPS gaming.


    Still, the RTX 3070 Ti will give you 4K 60FPS gaming without a problem either.

    Overclocking

    Right out of the box, my sample was hitting 1920MHz or so GPU boost -- GPU temps were at 69C, GPU hotspot at 79C, and GDDR6X memory temps at 76C. When overclocked, I was able to push GPU boost up to 2100MHz stable -- with a 1000MHz+ OC on the GDDR6X memory as well.


    GPU temps dropped to 57C, GPU hotspot to 65C, and GDDR6X memory temps to 62C.

    Power Consumption & Temps

    Out of the box we have GPU temps of around 69-70C on the Inno3D RTX 3070 Ti X3 OC dual slot graphics card, while when overclocked with the fans at 100% the GPU temps come down to an impressive 57C.


    GDDR6X temps are great on the card, with stock fans keeping the 8GB of GDDR6X memory running at around 76C while when overclocked and the fans at 100% the GDDR6X temps drop to an impressive 62C.

    What's Hot, What's NotWhat's Hot
  • Perfect for SFF gaming PCs: If you are building a new small form factor (SFF) gaming PC, and the Inno3D RTX 3070 Ti X3 OC dual-slot is available in your market -- or at all -- it is the perfect card for you. It's not loud, it doesn't run too hot, and will fit perfectly into a mITX or ITX gaming PC.
  • Not a huge triple-slot beast, and that's a good thing: Even when it's not inside of a SFF gaming PC the Inno3D RTX 3070 Ti X3 OC dual-slot is a marvel. In a world of 2.9-slot and 3-slot custom RTX 3070 Ti cards, the dual-slot Inno3D RTX 3070 Ti X3 OC is a breath of dual-slot fresh air.
  • Dual 8-pin PCIe power connectors: The other custom RTX 3070 Ti cards require triple 8-pin PCIe power connectors, but the Inno3D RTX 3070 Ti X3 OC dual-slot like the RTX 3070 Ti FE, requires dual 8-pin PCIe power connectors.
  • What's Not

    There's not much to not like here, it's one of the better custom GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics cards -- purely because it's a dual-slot card. If that's what you need... a dual-slot RTX 3070 Ti, then look no further than the Inno3D RTX 3070 Ti X3 OC.

    Final Thoughts

    Everything that made the higher-end Inno3D GeForce RTX 3080 Ti X3 OC dual-slot graphics card my favorite custom RTX 3080 Ti, is what makes the new RTX 3070 Ti X3 OC dual-slot my favorite custom RTX 3070 Ti so far, too.


    Inno3D has another fantastic dual-slot graphics cards on its hands with the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti X3 OC, where it offers all of the performance that the larger triple-slot RTX 3070 Ti cards offer, but in a tighter dual-slot card that is even more impressive.


    It looks fantastic installed into a gaming PC as it doesn't have any RGB lighting whatsoever, compared to its competitors that have flashy RGB lighting -- love it, or hate it. The Inno3D GeForce RTX 3070 Ti X3 OC dual slot looks great with the other components in your PC with RGB lighting (case fans, CPU cooler, etc) reflecting off of the card.


    NVIDIA's magical DLSS technology can offer gigantic improvements in performance for the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, so if the games you're playing are using DLSS... turn it on. For example, Rainbow Six: Siege just got its new DLSS update and at 4K you're jumping from 135FPS to 230FPS average on the RTX 3070 Ti.
