In a recent interview with Play Magazine, Arkane Studios talked about how developing directly on PS5 has allowed them to have a more ambitious game than ever before. According to what they have said, in fact, only thanks to the new computing power will Deathloop be bigger and denser than Dishonored 2.Arkane Studios more specifically talked about the advantages of abandoning the development of Xbox One and PS4 and, consequently, to be able to fully benefit from all the new capabilities allowed by PlayStation 5, PC and in the future also Xbox Series X | S. These new platforms, in fact, unlocked "a new level of ambition" for studying and doing things that would not have been possible on the older generation of consoles.

PS5, in fact, has allowed them to create a bigger and denser world than the one created for Dishonored 2. The new console specs were like a "breath of fresh air" on the development side, as they didn't have to cut content as they did in previous projects.
Deathloop's level design promises to be very ambitious "It's always heartbreaking when you get to the end of a project, you have to optimize things and you realize you have to cut the map in half and you have to justify this from a narrative point of view," concluded Bakaba.
Deathloop will arrive on PS5 and PC next September 14.

Deathloop Devs Says Level of Ambition Not Possible If Not for Next-Gen, PS5 a “Breath of Fresh Air”
It seems that moving on to next-gen is proving to be very beneficial for Deathloop developers, Arkane Studios, as they discuss PS5 development, along with revealing new details around their upcoming game.
In the latest issue of Play Magazine, Arkane Studios discusses some of the benefits of moving on to next-gen platforms, citing that they believe the level of ambition they have for Deathloop would have not been possible were it developed on last-gen (PS4, Xbox One).
“I don’t think that we would have been able to preserve the level of ambition of this game were it not for the move to next-gen.” Said Game director Dinga Bakaba.
He goes on to add that the PS5 has allowed them to created a world bigger, and more denser than the one found in Dishonored 2, and how the console feels like a ‘breath of fresh air” from the development side of things, citing having to cut content from previous projects.
“It’s always heartbreaking when you get to the end of a project, and you have to optimise things, and now you have to cut your map in half and you have to justify why it’s in two parts.”
