Fritzbox 6850: AVM router with 5G support presented

Fritzbox 6850

Those responsible at AVM have presented the company's first router that supports the 5G cellular standard. As a result, the device achieves even higher transmission speeds - compared to the previous LTE standard. The Fritzbox 6850 should appear in the summer. Details on the date and the price of the router will be available in the next few weeks.

The Fritzbox 6850 is particularly suitable for households that do not yet have a powerful Internet connection via cable or fiber optics. According to the AVM press release, up to 1.3 Gbit / s can be achieved in the supported 5G networks. The router also continues to support 4G and 3G. In the case of 4G, the speeds should be up to 1 GBit / s. The Internet is then distributed via Wi-Fi 5, among other things. Here, users are offered almost the entire bandwidth (1.266 GBit / s) via the WLAN antenna.
