Ratchet & Clank Life of Pie, a surprise TV show appears: is it connected to Rift Apart?

Ratchet & Clank: life of pie

Yesterday, Ratchet & Clank: Life of Pie unexpectedly appeared in the catalog of the Canadian streaming service Crave TV. This is an animated short of about 23 minutes, starring the dynamic duo who will be back in action next June in a new video game, Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart, expected exclusively on PS5.

The TV show is literally appeared out of nowhere, without a marketing campaign or a hint from Sony to precede it. It sees the participation of the entire original cast and tells of an unprecedented adventure of Ratchet & Clank, once again grappling with the diabolical plans of Dr. Nefarious. The archenemy of the lombax and his robot companion managed to get their hands on the Polarizer, a device capable of creating interdimensional portals and jeopardizing the very fabric of the multiverse.

Despite the suspicious timing, Ratchet & Clank: Life of Pie is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the video game Rift Apart, from which it appears to be completely disconnected. After the discovery of the TV show's existence, PlayStation LifeStyle contacted Sony for clarification, receiving confirmation that Life of Pie is a "stand-alone licensed TV special made by Mainframe Studios", currently only and exclusively available in Canada. We do not know if and when it will arrive in our part, even if in the last few hours it has started to circulate illegally on YouTube.

While we're at it, we remind you that Rachet & Clank Rift Apart will be launched on 11 June exclusively on PlayStation 5. The Standard and Digital Deluxe editions of Ratchet & Clank can already be pre-ordered at the Sony digital store.
