Fortnite and the portals: is Kevin the Cube about to return? Fans go wild

Fortnite and the portals

It is not the first time that hypotheses and speculations about a possible return of Kevin the Cube in Fortnite: Royal Battle take hold in the community of battle royale fans.

This time, to rekindle the suspicion are a series of rather peculiar clues. As you can verify directly at the bottom of this news, some of the players have pointed the finger in the direction of the portals that have been making their appearance on the game island for several weeks now. An attentive and imaginative user active on the Reddit forum as "duskyxlops" has in particular brought to attention the possibility that Epic Games is hiding the return of Kevin the Cube in plain sight. By combining the positions of the portals that have appeared in-game up to now, in fact, the shape of a cube seems to be composed.

Of course, at the moment, the image is incomplete, since at present at least two points of interest would be missing to confirm the theory. However, with Fortnite constantly evolving, the latter remains at least suggestive. The numerous dataminers active on the game also contribute to fueling the speculations, which recently suggested the arrival in the game of skins dedicated to Kevin the Cube.

Waiting for any developments that confirm or disprove these theories, Street Fighter's Ryu and Chun-Li skins are available in Fortnite, while the next portal could usher in a collaboration between Fortnite and WandaVision's Disney + series.

It looks like Street Fighter will be the next 'Fortnite' crossover

By all accounts, it looks like the world of Street Fighter will soon crossover with Fortnite. The game’s datamining community found evidence that series favorites Ryu and Chun-Li — who, to be clear, is not a character from Mortal Kombat — could join Fortnite’s item shop in the next couple of days.

The leaks started with a tweet spotted by Eurogamerthat includes assets from the next in-game portal. They show a part of Street Fighter 2’s Suzaku Castle level. And if you listen carefully, you can hear a distorted version of Ryu’s theme. ShiinaBR, the prolific data miner who shared the portal assets, later tweeted out an image of the Ryu and Chun-Li skins they found in the game’s code.

It’s been a busy last couple of months for crossovers in Fortnite. At the end of last year, Epic added Kratos from God of War and Master Chief from Halo to celebrate the release of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Fortnite’sSeason 2 Chapter 5 has also brought with it characters from The Mandalorian and the Walking Dead, among other popular franchises.
