Mortal Kombat's new dad game won't be at TGA 2022

Ed Boon is not new to denials, especially when Mortal Kombat and Injustice are involved, his two creatures produced by NetherRealm Studios, the software house founded by Boon himself. In recent weeks, the father of the two franchises had "confirmed" that he was working on one of the two titles, but in the last few hours he informed all his followers on Twitter not to listen to the rumors that wanted a reveal of his new game during The Game Awards 2022.

The tweet launched by Boon begins with a small anecdote. “Four years ago we announced Mortal Kombat 11 at the TGA. A surprise announcement that went very well. Perhaps too much, considering that many believe that we will do the same for our next game ”, reads the twitter. “Thank you for waiting, but we are not quite ready to announce our new title,” concluded Ed Boon.

Boon's denial goes hand in hand with the type of show that TGA 2022 will be. As previously reported, in fact, the show will be decidedly shorter than in the past (although obviously the total length has not yet been confirmed) and not there will be too many big games. Significant reveals will obviously not be lacking, but they will be to a lesser extent, perhaps exactly as many people had hoped for, who have been expecting a facelift to the show for years, defined as too long and with too many trailers.

If you are a fan of Mortal Kombat or Injustice, therefore, it will be necessary to wait a little longer before finding out what Ed Boon's next game will be. The feeling is that the title is practically ready, but that the right stage for a reveal could be the next E3 or a dedicated show. All hypotheses are obviously good, but we cannot confirm them: ours are only hypotheses, which we hope will be realized as soon as possible.
