The first rumors about the elusive Resident Evil 9 are run by the well-known insider Dusk Golem, who has always been very close to the survival horror genre and especially to the Resident Evil. Recently, the insider had already stated in March, via his Twitter profile, that Resident Evil 9 would already be in development and could be the last numbered chapter of the series. Now, in a new tweet, he reveals that the sequel would be in development as early as 2018.
“Resident Evil 9 has been in development since 2018, when it comes out it will be by far the Resident Evil game that has been in development the longest (probably around 6-7 years of development), this is Dusk's statement. Golem. Obviously, we are talking about rumors that must be taken absolutely with a grain of salt at the moment, but it is absolutely possible that Capcom has really started at least the pre-production phase of the ninth main chapter of Resident Evil.
