PS5: Firmware 21.01-03.20.00.04 for download, also new DualSense update

PS5

Sony released the PS5 firmware 21.01-03.20.00.04. The new, around 900 megabyte system update is now available for download on PlayStation 5. It is unclear which screws the developers actually turned. The only thing that emerges from the patch notes is that the firmware improves the console's performance and stability. Sony does not provide further details about the changes and innovations. However, a user in the Neogaf forum found out that the sorting in the game library changes with the update. From now on, installed games will be shown in the foreground. The software does not seem to make any further changes.

In addition, the DualSense controller has also received a new firmware update. As Reddit user "Heymodspleasehelp" reports, the update addresses a display bug with the controller. In the past few weeks, gamers had reported that the battery level indicator should show incorrect values. "I can confirm that the display bug on the controller has been fixed. Before the update I was shown 0 percent, now two bars are displayed," reports the user.

Supplies of PlayStation 5 consoles are still incredibly limited, with most major outlets being completely sold out for the past month. Those willing to pay more for the elusive hardware can do so from either Newegg or Walmart but the price will be steep.

Here is a breakdown of the latest PS5 stock information.

Newegg PS5 Restock

You actually have a surprising amount of options for getting a PS5 from Newegg, with Japanese imports of both the disc and digital editions still in stock. The former will cost $1,164.99, while the latter is going for $1,149.99. Given that these are imports, they are considerably more expensive and will have a delayed delivery as well.

Elsewhere, Newegg has recently added a $1,599.99 bundle, which packages the PS5 disc edition with a wireless controller, PSVR headset, camera, Move motion controller and a copy of Iron Man VR. This will ship from the U.S and will have a standard delivery time of 3-9 days.

Finally, the retailer is also selling another bundle for $1,189.95, which comes with a next-gen copy of Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
