From the pages of the PS Blog, Sony's Hideaki Nishino officially confirms the development of a next-gen version of PS VR specifically designed to exploit the hardware potential of PlayStation 5 and integrate with the ecosystem of features and services of the latest home console of the Japanese technology giant .

Through the pages of the "institutional blog" of the Sony videogames division, the senior vice president of planning and management of the PlayStation platform begins by stating that "today I am pleased to announce that our next generation Virtual Reality system will arrive on PlayStation 5, allowing fans to enjoy the best entertainment experience with significant improvements in terms of performance and interactivity. " According to the Sony executive, the viewer will not be wireless but will connect to the console through a single cable to simplify installation.

In addition to the announcement of the new virtual reality viewer, Nishino also confirms the designing a new controller specifically made for PS VR 2 and points out that it is "one of the innovations we are most excited about. The VR controller will incorporate some of the key features of the DualSense wireless controller and focus on ergonomics."
The Sony representative explains however that "there is still a lot of development to be done for the new VR system", as indeed the absence of images to accompany the announcement of the new "helmet of wonders" and of the controller: the launch of the PlayStation VR 2 headset for PS5 and its controller for Virtual Reality, therefore, will not take place in 2021.
