Which RAM to combine with Ryzen 7000? AMD recommends DDR5-6000 kits

With the presentation of the new Ryzen 7000 processors, AMD has introduced together with the new AM5 platform support for the new PCI-E 5.0 and DDR5 standards for SSD and RAM. The new CPUs natively support DDR5-5200 modules and, on the occasion of some questions asked by a user on the company's official Discord server, Technical Marketing Manager Robert Hallock was able to share more details on what is the best configuration of memory to be used with the new processors.

As already anticipated during the Q&A on the sidelines of the presentation, also in this case it was reiterated that the best choice would fall on the DDR5-6000, which would allow to benefit from an excellent trade-off between cost, stability, performance and also ease of use. Hallock also recommends the use of two-module kits instead of four, since as often happens, the use of four DIMMs greatly limits the maximum frequency that can be reached by RAM: the new Ryzen 7000 series supports single and dual rank DDR5-5200 RAM memories. , with a single DIMM configuration per channel, thus using two DIMMs per channel the maximum speed drops to 3600 MT / s.

With the introduction of EXPO overclocking technology, which allows you to set an automatic profile for the RAMs on each system, the partners immediately began working on the first compatible modules. The first of these are XPG and G.Skill, whose memories will be released soon.
