Skyrim is never enough: a new edition would be coming to Switch

Skyrim is never enough

It has now been more than ten years since The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim hit the gaming shops for the first time. The Bethesda RPG quickly became one of the cornerstones of gaming, and as the years went by, the much loved title managed to reach almost anyone. In addition to coming out on all consoles across multiple generations, the game has been revived multiple times in various editions, and apparently, it looks like Nintendo Switch will soon see one of these multiple versions of the title coming.

The Anniversary Edition of Skyrim is the third edition special release of the Bethesda game, which came after the Special Edition and the much older Legendary Edition. In the Anniversary Edition, in addition to celebrating the legendary RPG with an improved version of the game, there are also the various expansions released post launch, namely Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn, thanks to which hours and hours of story and content are added.

But the additional content doesn't stop there, with the Anniversary Edition that includes 500 content from the game's Creation Club, such as missions, dungeons, bosses, weapons and spells, all made by both Bethesda and community creators . If everything finds an official short-term, it is very likely that the announcement will arrive during a new Nintendo Direct, a communicative appointment which, according to rumors of this period, should arrive in the first half of September.

10 Games You Should Play If You Love Skyrim

The magical land of Tamriel never ceases to impress us with its extensive lore and thousands of unique stories. The only downside to playing a fantastic game like Skyrim is that it’s hard to find any other games of similar quality.

Since Skyrim’s release in 2011, many games have come out to recapture the magical experience of Bethesda’s action RPG. Of course, it’s not easy to find a game that will leave a mark on your life as Skyrim did, but there are several titles that offer a similar experience. So, we’ve included some of the best games that feature special elements to make your experience unforgettable.

DUALSHOCKERS VIDEO OF THE DAY10/10 The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Geralt looks at the greenery in Kaer Morhen

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is the perfect dark fantasy game with a gorgeous world and a mesmerizing soundtrack. Geralt leads our story, but we make decisions for him that impact the basic storyline. Geralt tends to be quite witty sometimes, making us fall in love with him even more. Every other character in the game has their motives, making for an intriguing storyline.

The main quest in The Witcher is indeed great; however, the side-missions and Witcher contracts steal the thunder with haunting and interesting tales about the world and even about the monsters that Geralt is paid to hunt. The Witcher 3 is one of the most highly acclaimed video games, and rightfully so.

9/10 Elden Ring

We see the vastness of the tarnished land

Elden Ring has magic, swords, dragons, and plenty of lore to go around. The game has a fantasy setting, but Elden Ring focuses more on fighting and lore rather than wasting time with loads of dialogue.

Many character questlines tend to be mysterious as the story unravels as you continue the quest. The combat is amazing, but it will take you a while to improve. Boss fights will teach you lessons on how to improve. Also, learning the process and finally beating the boss brings about an unrivaled adrenaline rush for a game.

8/10 Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen

The pawns have their eyes set on a massive beast who needs to be taken down.

Dragons Dogma has one of the most unforgiving open worlds with extremely tough boss fights. These boss fights are spectacular as we can climb atop the boss to stab them. That alone adds another layer to combat that hasn’t been seen in a long time.

We also have different pawns to order around that help you during intense battles. We have archers or magic casters as pawns, so we can choose between them depending on the situation. Dragons Dogmas’ story is interesting but vague at the same time, but it still keeps you involved with its incredible gameplay.

7/10 Fallout New Vegas

The main character stands with a flag behind him

Fallout New Vegas has so many elements that’ll remind you of Skyrim. Similar graphics and tonnes of quests, with a deep and well-thought-out RPG system. New Vegas, set in a post-apocalyptic world, places itself apart from the rest of the series with its dark humor that ironically lightens the atmosphere of the otherwise dreadful world.

There is plenty to explore within New Vegas and something to find in every nook and cranny. Fallout New Vegas may be one of the best options if you’re looking for something similar to Skyrim but in a different setting.

6/10 Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

Link looks upon the freedom of Hyrule

Freedom is what Zelda Breath of The Wild (BOTW) offers the most. From the beginning, you can go to the end of the game if, of course, you can survive. Zelda offers a world with exciting ways to explore, like paragliding and climbing ability. You can even set the grass on fire to create a gust of wind that brings you and your paraglider sky high to get somewhere safer and faster.

The combat system is done through weapon durability. This provides an element of preparation and strategy as your weapons will constantly break, so you need to adapt and constantly grab other weapons as you fight.

5/10 Mass Effect Trilogy

Commander Shepard standing as Earths last hope

If you loved Skyrim’s various dialogue options and decision-making, Mass Effect is the right choice. A decision from Mass Effect 1 will come into effect later in Mass Effect 3, and some little side mission characters will reappear and talk to Shepard.

Mass Effect has fantastic lore about all the different types of species. The game shows this through species interactions, such as Krogans hating Salarians as they created a genophage to stop them from breeding. Not only this, but Mass Effect boasts a great combat system with brilliantly written characters with levels of depth that can only be discovered by constantly going through its well-written interactions.

4/10 God Of War

Kratos unleashes his spartan rage

If you’re looking for a mythic type of game, God of War is the right choice. If the Gods within Skyrim weren’t enough, God of War offers you Gods from two mythologies. The 2018 God of War is similar to Skyrim with its cold, snowy backdrop and even a sighting of dragons.

It owns a robust combat system that is one of the best we’ve seen in the series. The combat is gritty and personal. The story follows Kratos and his son Atreus as they venture forth to spread Freya’s ashes. It’s a personal tale and is told beautifully by the writers.

Oblivion cover

What better game to pick than the one that came before Skyrim? Almost everything that makes Skyrim great comes from Oblivion. Oblivion is a lot greener than Skyrim and has a brighter setting in general. The RPG system is far deeper but a slight bit more complicated.

Oblivion doesn’t hold your hand as much as Skyrim; however, it can be rewarding to figure it all out yourself. Many fans even think that Oblivion has better questlines than Skyrim. So, it is definitely worth trying out, considering it’s the predecessor to Skyrim.

Morrowind cover art

The combat is tough and the enemies even tougher. Morrowind provides an excellently written story and interesting characters, making the game hard to resist even with its mediocre graphics. Morrowind crawled so Skyrim could run.

The land of Morrowind provides unlimited freedom as you don’t need to level up to unlock anything in the game. The game came out in 2002, and it has some of the best lore of all the Elder Scrolls.

1/10 Dishonored

Corvo under the mask

Dishonored is very different, but it has those key elements that will recapture Skyrim’s magic. We play as Corvo, who has to save the princess, but with stealth. Dishonored gives you the options between killing or knocking out enemies. You can even complete the level by being a ghost and not being seen. Your choice will affect later levels, such as if you go in guns blazing, more guards will be in the next level.

The design and setting of Dishonored in unique and provides a glimpse of the world beyond Corvo. Your decisions are important, so you should be careful before deciding who or how you assassinate. It is indeed one of the best stealth games ever made.
