Image Comics and Skybound will launch C.O.D.E. by Robert Kirkman along with artist Jason Howard in Skybound X # 5, out August 4. Intellectual property will then have its own series. The Skybound X anthology series showcased several new properties along with special stories from the Skybound catalog.All about Robert Kirkman's new comic, C.O.D.E.
As reported by Image and Skybound, C.O.D.E. it is the story of the struggle for the survival of humanity in a technological hell of the distant future; humans will be able to rely on the use of devices known as Combat Orb Defense Engines.This is the official description of CODE:
“Seven possessors of orbs from six different warring factions have put aside their differences to unite and carry out a mission that could be humanity's last hope to counter a technological threat that has almost completely conquered the Earth ".
Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead and Invincible (you can find the first issue of the comic here on Amazon, while the episodes of the animated series of the same name are on Amazon Prime Video), stated that he and Howard have developed CODE for a long time, adding that it is a very ambitious project that brings together all the favorite genres of their authors.
Robert Kirkman then concluded by saying that C.O.D.E. is a great way to celebrate Skybound's 10th anniversary by specifying how much you love to create new characters all the time, so he hopes readers will enjoy his new work.
C.O.D.E. reunites Kirkman and Howard, who have previously worked together on The Amazing Wolf-Man and Super Dinosaur.
The very long Skybound X # 5 will also contain the final chapter of the Rick Grimes 2000 series, as well as new stories from the worlds of The Six Sidekicks of Trigger Keaton by Kyle Starks and Chris Schweizer, as well as Gasolina by Sean Mackiewicz and Niko Walter.
Six variant covers will be illustrated by David Finch, Chris Schweizer and Howard, each of whom will design a standard cover and a variant.
Robert Kirkman & Jason Howard's Brand New Epic Series 'C.O.D.E' Begins in Skybound X #5
Image/Skybound revealed today that the acclaimed duo of Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead, Invincible) and Jason Howard (Big Girls) will reunite for the first appearance of their new series C.O.D.E in Skybound X #5.
C.O.D.E. tells the story of humanity in the far future surviving a technological hellscape through the assistance of a device known as Combat Orb Defense Engines. Seven orb wielders who hail from six different warring factions have set aside their differences to band together and carry out a mission that may be humanity’s last hope to thwart a technological menace that has nearly completely overtaken earth.
“Jason Howard and I have been talking for a long time about making our next project the biggest, wildest thing we’ve ever done—and that’s how C.O.D.E. was born,” said Kirkman. “This is the beginning of something truly ambitious that combines all the genres we love into one big super powered epic. There’s no better way to end this celebration of Skybound’s first ten years than to bring you something entirely new for the very first time.”
“It's been a blast to reunite with Robert on a new project, we share a ton of comic book DNA and C.O.D.E. is the offspring of that DNA who’s done nothing but pump iron and become awesome in an attempt to be worthy of your love!” said Howard. “Creating new characters is where my heart is at and I hope that C.O.D.E. will have characters as memorable to future fans as those created in Skybound's past.”
