Zack Snyder dreams of directing a Dragon Ball Z movie

After a period of forced isolation due to a serious bereavement that has affected his family, director Zack Snyder has returned to the office first with his version of Justice League and later with the film Army of the Dead, available exclusively on the catalog Netflix. Now, during a chat with Tyrone Magnus on YouTube, the filmmaker has declared that he wants to direct an adaptation of Dragon Ball Z, one of the most famous and loved works in the world among those born from the imagination of the mangaka Akira Toriyama. >

In fact, Snyder would love to direct a film with real actors dedicated to the adventures of Goku, Vegeta and his companions, even if he does not exclude the possibility of working on other successful anime. Although the director's statement is certainly very bold, fans will certainly remember the daring action sequences of Sucker Punch, or the in-flight combat between Superman and General Zod in The Man of Steel. Zack Snyder's style would therefore marry quite well in a hypothetical feature film dedicated to Dragon Ball Z, given that much of the manga and anime of the same name are characterized by spectacular fights.

We also remember that the Toriyama saga has already recently been brought to the big screen, more precisely in the 2009 film directed by James Wong and starring actor Justin Chatwin: Dragonball Evolution. Born as the third film adaptation of the Dragon Ball franchise, the film unfortunately turned out to be a disaster on all fronts, being literally destroyed by both specialized critics and die-hard fans of the original series. Among the problems of the film, low-alloy special effects and a lack of fidelity with the work of Toriyama, as well as an interpretation of the actors subdued and absolutely far from the charm of the characters appeared in the manga, with the exception perhaps of Roshi, the master of martial arts training Goku played by the great Chow Yun-Fat.
