The Politecnico on the hunt for startups to bring to the market

Time until June 30 to present innovative projects and ideas at Switch2Product, the call launched by the Politecnico di Milano

Ferruccio Resta, rector of PoliMi, and Enrico Delucchi, general manager of the PoliHub The Politecnico di Milano inaugurated the thirteenth edition of Switch2Product, the program to select and bring to the market innovative solutions, new technologies and business ideas proposed by students, graduates, researchers, alumni and teachers of the university. The competition is supported by the Poli360 fund, which will invest in the most promising projects that have emerged from the program, speeding up their development and market launch. Switch2Product is the result of the collaboration between the technology transfer office (Tto) of the Politecnico, PoliHub (the start-up accelerator of the polytechnic), Deloitte (a leading consulting company) and Bocconi University through the B4i - Bocconi for innovation startup platform .

The areas in which to present projects

In the new edition, the four areas in which it will be possible to present one's projects are inspired by the directives of NextGenerationEu, the economic development plan promoted by European Union to counter the effects of the pandemic. Life science & med tech, Green energy & circular economy, Industry transformation and news ways of working & living, are the issues to be addressed in order to participate in the competition.

Deadlines

Applications are open until 30 June 2021 and the 90 best projects will be selected by the end of September. They will participate in the Idea developement & pitc h workshop, to structure an effective presentation of their proposal, which will be evaluated by the judges of the Polytechnic, PoliHub, Deliotte and by experts from the world of industry. The 45 projects that pass this phase will access the Innovation boost program, a training course to evaluate the technological and market potential of the idea and define a development plan. At the end of the program, the jury will select the winners of the thirteenth edition of Switch2Product.

What to win

The winning ideas will be able to obtain financial contributions, up to a maximum of 30 thousand euros for the technological acceleration and develop a prototype of your idea. The support of experts from PoliHub, Tto and Deliotte for the entrepreneurial development of the project and access for one year to the services and the PoliHub network. In addition, the most deserving team will be able to participate for free in 5 courses of the Politecnico Management Academy, while 3 selected projects will be able to receive a voucher for the purchase of services in the field of protection, management and enhancement of intellectual property by the consulting agency legal Bugnion.
