Mercedes presents the proprietary operating system MB.OS

Mercedes-Benz presents its new MB.OS proprietary operating system. which will be implemented in vehicles of the brand in the coming years. Although the German car manufacturer has decided to create its own operating system, there is no shortage of partnerships with the large giants Google and Nvidia to optimize the services to be offered to customers.

According to reports, the Lite version of the operating system will arrive on the E-Class during 2023, but the complete OS will still have to wait a bit as it will be perfected between 2024 and 2025.

At Mercedes-Benz we are committed to building the most desirable cars in the world. As a result, we set out to be the architects of our own operating system, a first-of-its-kind chip-to-cloud architecture that leverages full access to our vehicles' hardware and software components. By combining this in-house expertise with a selection of world-class partners, we will create an outstanding customer experience, from driver assistance, navigation and entertainment to integrated charging. MB.OS will feature full upgradeability and constant improvements, commented Ola Kallenius, CEO of Mercedes-Benz.

Not surprisingly, the new architecture will be at the heart of the development of the brand's next vehicles. The joint work between Mercedes, Nvidia and Google will inevitably allow the completion of a very important project to optimize the services offered to the brand's customers.

Mercedes and Google are in fact working to create a next-generation navigation experience, based on data and Maps technology. With Nvidia, however, the star car manufacturer aims to develop advanced level 3 autonomous driving functions, with the aim of being completely independent up to 130 km/h.

Our partnership with Mercedes-Benz involves the use of advanced technologies from Google Maps Platform, Cloud and YouTube to help create new experiences for drivers. In addition to enabling Mercedes-Benz to design a customized navigation interface, we will provide our AI and data capabilities to accelerate sustainability efforts, advance autonomous driving and create an improved customer experience.
