Guardians of the Galaxy vol.3
After the recent debut of the Holiday Special on Disney+, much appreciated by fans, Guardians of the Galaxy vol.3 arrives with a new highly anticipated trailer regarding their next adventure in theaters. As announced by director and screenwriter James Gunn , the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will be the final act of the saga that has introduced us to characters like Peter Quill aka Starlord, Gamora and Drax. As seen in the preview clip for this latest adventure, all the main protagonists return, namely Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff and the voices of Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper (performed respectively to Groot and Rocket), but there it will also be Zoe Saldana who returns as Gamora, indeed the Gamora of an alternate reality as we saw in Avengers: Endgame .Content This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.
In Guardians of the Galaxy vol.3 aboard the new spaceship called Bowie (introduced in the Christmas special), the Guardians will certainly have to deal with the Counter Earth, a planet very similar to ours which travels however in the opposite orbit with respect to the Sun and was created by the High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji, already seen in Peacemaker, a series also created by Gunn ), a scientist who devised a way to accelerate natural evolution, through which he created the New Men, a species of anthropomorphic animals that are also seen in the trailer. It is probable that the new villain aims at the genetic material dispersed after the destruction of Ego, the god-planet and father of Quill who had been defeated at the end of the second volume: the creation of any Super Ego would be an unsustainable threat for the whole universe.
But that's not all: another threat could be represented by Adam Warlock , the golden superman played by Will Poulter and who, as we saw at the end of the second film, was created by Ayesha, great priestess of the Sovereign precisely to take revenge on the Guardians themselves. Among the various characters, another much loved figure from the comics will be Cosmo the Spacedog. There will obviously be space for moments of great emotion and these seem to concern Rocket in particular: the genetically modified raccoon has to face the ghosts of his past (which could reconnect him to the High Evolutionary) and in these scenes we see him not only as a puppy but also while hugging Lady Lylla, a highly intelligent otter who is also Rocket's soul mate in the comics.
Rocket himself pronounces here a phrase as prophetic as it is melancholy: “ We will fly away together one last time, towards infinity, in that wonderful sky ”, to remark that this will be their last adventure (and the moments in which Quill and Mantis cry in despair suggest a serious mourning, perhaps the loss of Rocket himself?). Between pop music and filmic references such as the colored space suits very similar to those of 2001: A Space Odyssey, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 promises to be a great epilogue. We expect it in theaters in May 2023 .
