Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that it is working on Control 2 and that the game will be published and developed in collaboration with 505 Games, through a partnership that should guarantee a high-profile budget for the project in question.

Control 2 , known so far by the code name Heron, is in development on PS5, Xbox Series X | S and PC, built on the Northlight Engine owned by the Finnish team, on which the previous chapter was also created.

Control 2, a first public artwork of the new Remedy chapter will publish the game in self-publishing mode on PC, while 505 Games will intervene in the publication on console.

This is not the first time there is talk of the direct follow-up to Control, given that the project had already been announced and confirmed by Remedy since June 2021, but so far it had been identified with the code name Heron, while the details on the publication and the reference platforms have been confirmed only today, via an official release from the team.

"I am now proud to confirm that the biggest budget game on Control, also known as Codename Heron, is Control 2, a complete sequel to our Control , winner of various prizes and awards ", said Remedy CEO Tero Virtala.

" With Control 2, we will take another leap into unknown territory, it will be an unexpected journey ", said Mikael Kasurinen, g ame director of the Control series. "It will take a while to see it, but this is the most exciting project I have ever worked on. We are still at the beginning, but it will be worth waiting for." The initial budget available for the project is 50 million euros, which suggests the rather high aims of Remedy and 505 Games.

For its part, 505 Games has called the Control series "the biggest investment" made by the company, which puts the franchise in a very important position for the publisher, very confident about Control 2.
