Square Enix has specified that Symbiogenesis, the title that had previously emerged with the registration of the dedicated trademark, has nothing to do with Parasite Eve but it is instead a new franchise that seems to focus on the use of NFTs.It is therefore a very different project from what many hoped for when the title Symbiogenesis appeared for the first time and many saw a possible connection with Parasite Eve, considering the direct translation of the title that seemed to have a what to do with the theory on the origin of the eukaryotic cell from the prokaryote, a theme that seemed to be linked to the history of the old science fiction RPG.
Instead, it is something completely new, and moreover closely connected with NFTs: as part of Square Enix's push towards this kind of modern monetization, Symbiogenesis is described as an "entirely designed digital art collection project. and for Web3 fans ", not quite what Parasite Eve fans were looking for.
Waiting to better understand what it is, Square Enix also spoke of the presence of "an interactive story and a dedicated community", as elements foreseen for this new project. Apparently, the art items that can be collected in Symbiogenesis can be used "as characters in a story that comes to life in an alternate world, where the player can uncover a mystery by completing quests involving questions about monopolization and resource distribution."
It really sounds bizarre, but we will know more from 2023, when the project will be launched as a "free browser service", therefore probably playable on the internet as free-to-play.
