Restless RTX 4090

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090, launched on the market a month ago, seems to have landed in the eye of the storm due to a problem that causes the 16-pin power cable to melt. While it was thought that this issue only affected the adapter that came in the box with the GPU, a recent report from a user now reveals that the problem actually occurs with the 16-pin ATX 3.0 cable of the new power supplies.
Nvidia is currently investigating the reported cases, also asking its partners to send in the faulty models of RTX 4090, so as to have a bigger picture of the situation and to be able to identify the source of the problem more quickly. The latest report comes from Facebook and was posted by a user who owns an MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming X Trio 24G, along with a MEG Ai1300P power supply, also from MSI. In order to avoid the fusion of the adapter, the user had opted to use the native one supplied with the power supply, but even in this the problem recurred again.

Source: Wccftech As you can see from the images, which show the connector connections now irreparably damaged, the plastic is partially melted. The user who reported the problem also reports that he has not bent the cable in any way, while MSI has meanwhile taken care to contact him for the replacement of the GPU and power supply. Nvidia is currently working to identify and fix the problem as quickly as possible, but cases continue to rise nonetheless. This will certainly have a negative impact on the first sales of the RTX 4090, which in this way does not make its debut at all in the best way.
