The RTX 4090 is twice as fast as an RTX 3080 in Overwatch 2

Recently, NVIDIA has finally released the official benchmarks of the GeForce RTX 40 series (based on the Ada Lovelace architecture), which show the power of video cards even when DLSS 3.0 is active, thus essentially based on their simple "brute force". In particular, the popular Overwatch 2 was also examined, the second chapter of the famous Blizzard shooter, where the RTX 4090 obtained double the frame rate compared to the RTX 3080 (Ampere).

This highlights how the new cards definitely represent an important step forward in raster workloads compared to the previous generation, even without considering advanced technologies such as DLSS 3.0. In particular, NVIDIA, in its test, considered six GPUs, such as the RTX 3060, RTX 3070, RTX 3080, RTX 4080 12GB, RTX 4080 16GB and RTX 4090. Obviously, the RTX 4090 far surpassed all the other models generating 507 fps (resulting 103% faster than the RTX 3080), followed by the RTX 4080 16GB (368fps), RTX 4080 112GB (296fps), RTX 3080 (249fps), RTX 3070 (195fps) and RTX 3060 ( 122fps). The processor used in the test configuration was an Intel Core i9-12900K (Alder Lake), while the quality settings were set to “Ultra” and the resolution to 1,440p.
