The electric heir to the Volvo XC90 is ready for its debut

The debut of the electric heir to the Volvo XC90 is approaching. The new SUV of the Swedish brand will play a decisive role in the electrification program of the Volvo range which, over the next few years, will only offer electrified models and then gradually move to a zero-emission vehicle offer.

The electric heir to the Volvo XC90, known as the Embla, is expected to debut by the end of 2022, as confirmed by various rumors about the project. The model will use the SPA2 platform, designed to accommodate both hybrid and 100% electric solutions such as the one created for the new zero-emission SUV. This is the starting point that Volvo will use for several models over the next few years.

Initial information on the project confirms the presence of several variants for Volvo's new Embla. The SUV of the Swedish company, in fact, will arrive on the market both in a “dual motor” version and in a cheaper variant with a single electric motor. The power steps will also be different.

Volvo Concept Recharge A particular focus for the project will be represented by autonomy. The new electric heir to the Volvo XC90, in fact, will be able to count on a 100 kWh battery with support for fast charging. The data on autonomy will all be confirmed but the leaks of these months have anticipated the possibility of reaching (and perhaps exceeding with a special "long range" variant) even 600 kilometers of autonomy with one charge.
