Volkswagen ID.4

Volkswagen ID.4 is the World Car of the Year 2021. The prestigious automotive award awarded each year by a jury of 93 international automotive journalists was therefore awarded to the Wolfsburg electric car thanks to the 798 points obtained. The award will be officially presented to him at the next New York Motor Show scheduled for August 19.

We are particularly pleased that our ID.4 has been named World Car of the Year. Not only because it is one of the most important automotive awards in the world, but because the jury also awarded a great idea and a great team. The first model ID. for the markets of Europe, China and the United States takes our electric offensive all over the world, these are the words of Ralf Brandstätter, CEO of Volkswagen Cars, who showed great enthusiasm for the award obtained.

Non a accidentally, the electric ID.4 beat Honda-e and Toyota Yaris in the grand final, the latter winner of the Car of the Year 2021 in Europe in Geneva; the two cars respectively obtained a score of 742 and 732.

On the occasion of the assignment of the World Car of the Year 2021, the winning cars of other categories were also announced. In detail, the title of World Luxury Car was obtained by the Mercedes S-Class, while the Land Rover Defender won the World Car Design of the Year. At Porsche, the 911 was awarded the World Performance Car award, while the Honda-e was named World Urban Car.

A great result, therefore, was achieved by the Wolfsburg manufacturer which has now started a large electrification of its range of vehicles. Just in the past few hours, the same company announced the new ID.6, designed exclusively for China, aiming at a decisive improvement in its electric offer.

Of course, the World Car Awards extend beyond the overall car of the year. Winners for the 2021 Luxury Car, Performance Car, Urban Car and Design of the Year categories are as follows:

The Volkswagen ID 4 succeeds the Kia Telluride as World Car of the Year.

We're big fans of the ID 4 here at Roadshow; it's a refreshingly normal take on the EV crossover formula. Easy to drive, super spacious, loaded with tech and EPA-estimated to return 260 miles on a full charge, the ID 4 is an incredibly well-rounded electric CUV.
