Call of Duty 2021 canceled? Apparently it no longer appears!

Since 2003, new games in the Call of Duty series have been released every year. But this tradition could be broken in 2021. More and more voices from industry insiders can be heard who want to know that the latest part of the series was in development, but had and is struggling with serious difficulties. Although there was no official confirmation yet, Sledgehammer Games should actually work on this year's project of the shooter series.

Sledgehammer Games allegedly no longer responsible

According to a leak on the Twitter profile of the Insiders Zesty, the development studio has now been recalled to support the other teams in the further planning of the Battle Royale mode Call of Duty: Warzone. In contrast to the latest part of the "Black Ops Cold War" series, the big battles on the recently changed map Verdansk don't run away from the players.

According to some leaks, the new Call of Duty is said to be called "Vanguard" and is based on World War II. A few weeks ago, the most famous CoD insider Tom Henderson tweeted that the shooter currently being developed is in miserable condition:

"Vanguard ... To put it simply, is a bloody disaster."

In addition to production difficulties due to the current situation around the coronavirus, the newly developed engine also seems to pose major problems for Sledgehammer Games. Recently there were rumors that the new part of the series is being held back in terms of quality due to the PS4 and Xbox One on the new console generation.

Instead focus on multiplayer?

Instead of a brand new Call of Duty, Activision could publish a multiplayer part for Modern Warfare 2. Here, too, there are persistent speculations that the remaster will be given a multiplayer mode. An official statement from Activision or Sledgehammer Games on this subject is still pending. Maybe we will find out new information about the shooter series at the approaching E3, which will take place from June 12th to 15th.
