PS5 was the best-selling console in the US in October 2022

Matt Piscatella shared the NPD data of the US gaming market for the month of October 2022 on Twitter. As for the hardware, once again PS5 was the best-selling console in the US, both by unit and by revenue, while in second place we find the Xbox Series X | S.

According to the information shared by Piscatella, the revenues generated by the sale of hardware in the US last month amounted to 424 million dollars, 10% less on an annual basis.

Both PS5 and Xbox Series X | S have seen their revenues increase with double-digit percentages, we suppose also thanks to a massive increase in stocks of the two consoles in US stores, but this was not enough to make up for the decline in sales of other consoles, such as PS4 and Xbox One, which are now clearly on the verge of sunset from a commercial point of view.

As mentioned in the opening PS5 was the most successful console both in terms of revenues in dollars and the number of units sold, followed by Xbox Series X | S, in line with what was seen in September 2022. Unfortunately, Piscatella in his report did not talk about the progress of Nintendo Switch nor did he share precise numbers on the number of units sold for each console.

As regards accessories, revenues in October 2022 amounted to 148 million dollars, 8% less than a year ago. The PS5 Dualsense in Midnight Black was the best-selling accessory. In total, in October 2022, the total revenues of the gaming market amounted to 4.3 billion dollars, exactly like the previous year.
