Community WhatsApp

The Communities on WhatsApp are coming, that is a whole new way to manage thematic groups populated by a small or large number of users. The new function is aimed for example at schools, workplaces of all entities, but also neighborhood or residential communities that share a space, an activity, a passion and so on. The goal is precisely to connect multiple groups and organize their conversations in one place. The novelty will land on mobile applications on Android and iPhone with a special space, let's find out how it works and what can be done with this new option that offers an alternative to other well-known services such as Slack or Teams.

“Today we are launching the Communities on WhatsApp. They improve groups by enabling subgroups, multiple threads, ad channels and more ", announced Mark Zuckerberg himself yesterday with a video on his Facebook page, referring to the feature that appeared last February in the beta versions of the apps. and then reappear in April with more details. According to Zuckerberg, Community has the advantage of protecting communications between administrators and users through the well-known end-to-end encryption inside the app, without having to rely on third parties. For development, we have relied on 50 organizations from 15 different countries. In the examples below you can appreciate for example a community of a restaurant, with various groups such as that of the dining room or kitchen staff or that for a school with groups of the various classes or even neighborhood with groups of the various buildings, groups with dogs or chats for emergency reports.

You can reach the space dedicated to the Communities from a special tab located at the top of the page on Android and at the bottom on iOs. From there, you can create a new one or add existing groups, with the ability to easily switch between them to retrieve the information you want. At the same time, community administrators will be able to send messages to all members for easier communication. In addition to the Communities, three other functions are coming to WhatsApp such as the ability to create polls in chats, group calls with 32 people and groups that can host up to 1024 users.
