Tesla could block new orders for Model 3 and Y

Hard times for those who have to produce cars: first the Covid-19 pandemic that has upset the supply chains of the world, then the war between Russia and Ukraine that has complicated production operations in Europe and has skyrocketed the price of oil and methane gas. All this is having a series of very important effects on the automotive market, which also thanks to a very strong political push is aiming very seriously towards an electric transition, which as usual sees Tesla as the queen of the market.

It is it is she, Tesla, who has important production problems also due to the very high demand: in a few years the House of Elon Musk has managed to gain the attention of the market, which today dotes on these electric cars, to the point that today the list waiting for a Tesla Model 3 is close to 12 months, although in Italy things are a little better than in the United States.

On the occasion of the recent 'Future of the Car' summit, where Elon Musk gave a long interview to the Financial Times, it was the CEO of the company who hypothesized a drastic solution: stop booking for new Tesla, so as to give the company time to dispose of the many accumulated orders (if we consider that Tesla aims to produce 2 million cars in 2022, it can be deduced that the orders received are significantly more) while avoiding dissatisfying customers looking for a new car in a few months. Also there is the price problem: the cost of raw materials continues to rise, and a contract signed today at a certain price could become disadvantageous for Tesla when, in 12 months, the car is produced.

For the moment it is only a hypothesis, which however seems to be very plausible considering that it was aired by the CEO himself.
